I grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, now live in Black Mountain, North Carolina. I had no idea what being in the first class to co-educate UVA meant. I was somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer number of young men & the relatively few female classmates. It was a constant challenge & adventure to figure out what was important & where to put my attention. I was very social, joined Corks & Curls, started the first women’s tennis club team and studied some. My degree was in English & French with a teaching certification. I later got an MBA, became a serial entrepreneur in real estate and aviation, a commercial pilot , a strategic advisor to CEOs & now a mentor. Throughout my adult life, I have taken on challenges & been intrigued by what is possible. I give credit to UVA for this perspective on life.
